NSU Wind Symphony featuring Paul J. Forsyth performing a new Concerto: Birds of Paradise

The NSU Bands were part of a consortium to commission James Syler to write a concerto for saxophone and Wind Symphony. The NSU Wind Symphony will be doing our premiere of this concerto, entitled Birds of Paradise on April 18, 2024 in Magale Recital Hall on the campus of Northwestern State University. The Three Reeds Duo and Northwestern State University will host the 3rd International Duo Symposium. Duo from all over the world will be invited to attend. The guest composers will be O’Neal Douglas and Marcus Maroney. O’neal Douglas will be writing a piece for the Symposium and the Three Reeds Duo will perform the World Premiere at the Symposium. Duo Zuniga-Guandique will be the featured artists, both are Professors at the University of Costa Rica. 2023 NASA Biennial Conference

The Three Reeds Duo will perform two of their newest commissions, Places We Are From by Jenni Brandon and the WORLD PREMIERE of Steadfast by Derek Brown, as part of the 2023 Biennial NASA (North American Saxophone Alliance) Conference.
