The NSU Bands were part of a consortium to commission James Syler to write a concerto for saxophone and Wind Symphony. The NSU Wind Symphony will be doing our premiere of this concerto, entitled Birds of Paradise on April 18, 2024 in Magale Recital Hall on the campus of Northwestern State University. The Three Reeds Duo and Northwestern State University will host the 3rd International Duo Symposium. Duo from all over the world will be invited to attend. The guest composers will be O’Neal Douglas and Marcus Maroney. O’neal Douglas will be writing a piece for the Symposium and the Three Reeds Duo will perform the World Premiere at the Symposium. The Three Reeds Duo will be performing a chamber recital with some of their colleagues and friends on September 20 in Magale Recital Hall at NSU. The concert will feature two trios, one with clarinet and one with piano, as well as two Solo performances.
