The Forsyth Jazz Collective will be performing at Flying Heart Brewing & Pub in Natchitoches on Friday, June 19. Personnel in the Collective will be Paul Forsyth, Josue Bustillo, Jonathan Chaparro, and Rafael Melgar.
The 4th International Duo Symposium will be in San Jose, Costa Rica hosted by the Lab Duo. Duos from all over the world will be invited to attend. Three Reeds Duo will perform the World Premiere of our newest commission by the host, Fernando Zuniga-Chanto, Professor at the University of Costa Rica. The Three Reeds Duo will perform a recital and teach a masterclass at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS on Friday, February 13 as part of their Connoisseur’s Series. The NSU Bands were part of a consortium to commission James Syler to write a concerto for saxophone and Wind Symphony. The NSU Wind Symphony will be doing our premiere of this concerto, entitled Birds of Paradise on April 18, 2024 in Magale Recital Hall on the campus of Northwestern State University. The guest composers will be O’Neal Douglas and Marcus Maroney. O’neal Douglas will be writing a piece for the Symposium and the Three Reeds Duo will perform the World Premiere at the Symposium. Duo Zuniga-Guandique will be the featured artists, both are Professors at the University of Costa Rica.
